The Syracuse Crunch are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Syracuse, New York, at the Upstate Medical University Arena at Onondaga County War Memorial. They are the primary development affiliate of the National Hockey League's Tampa Bay Lightning. The 2018–19 season was the best season the Crunch has had during the 76-game schedule format. The Crunch tied a team record in points with 102, and tied a franchise record in wins with 47. Eddie Pasquale won the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award, Carter Verhaeghe won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy, and Verhaeghe and Alex Barre-Boulet both won the Willie Marshall Award, as they both tied for the league lead in goals scored. The Crunch also achieved 900 franchise victories with a 6–2 win over the Utica Comets on March 30, 2019. The Crunch won their third division title in the Tampa affiliation, but were upset in four games by the Cleveland Monsters.

- Benoit Groulx (born January 30, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He is currently the head coach of the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL and formerly the head coach and general manager for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL. Groulx played major junior hockey with the Granby Bisons of the QMJHLIn 2000, following an 11-year professional career played mostly in France, Groulx turned to coaching, taking an assistant position with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL. He became a head coach during the 2000–01 QMJHL season when he replaced John Chabot to take the reins of the Hull Olympiques, which was changed to the Gatineau Olympiques in 2003 following the city's amalgamation in 2002, where he won the 2003–04 Ron Lapointe Trophy as the QMJHL coach of the year. He was a head coach in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans for both the 2008–09 and 2009–10 AHL seasons, but re-join the Gatineau Olympiques in 2010. He was named head coach of the Syracuse Crunch on May 10, 2016, replacing Rob Zettler. In his first season as head coach, he led the Crunch to the Calder Cup Finals and an Eastern Conference title. He is tied for second in coaching wins in Syracuse Crunch history. He has 154 career wins as coach of the Syracuse Crunch.

- Noah Steen (born 16 August 2004) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey player who is a winger for Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League (AHL). Playing career In April 2024, Steen signed a three-year contract with Örebro HK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). On 29 June 2024, Steen was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round of the 2024 NHL entry draft. On 31 March 2026, Steen signed with the Lightning on a two-year, entry-level contract. Steen then joined the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL) on a professional tryout (PTO) for the remainder of the 2025–26 season. International play Steen represented the Norway national team at the 2023, 2024, and the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
